The project "Qualifizierungsoffensive Tourismus" (Skills Offensive Tourism) aims to enhance the quality of the services provided by tourism agencies in the area of the Terra Raetica. The Terra Raetica is a region composed of the district of Landeck and Imst (both Austria) and the regions Vinschgau (Italy), Engadin (Swiss) and Val Müstair (Swiss). Moreover, the project aims to boost the trans-regional competitiveness by offering various training and seminars and tries to create a space for exchanging ideas, experiences and knowledge.
The project itself has been running for almost four years now and each and every year new courses and programmes are offered to the staff of the participating tourism agencies. To find out the needs and the specific requirements for the upgrade training courses this project "Qualifizierungsoffensive Tourismus Bedarfserhebung" (Skills Offensive Tourism Needs Assessment) was created. This project provides the base for the follow-up-project, in which the actual courses and seminars are being offered to the tourism agencies.
In the past it was a common scene to see pupils on their way to school. The pupils had time to chat with each other, to play around and to get in touch with the environment. Nowadays, a lot of pupils are taken to school by their parents - a new phenomenon called school run. This has a lot of negative consequences - first the pupils lose important time to socialise and to get in touch with the environment, second the development of a certain self-responsibility is being hindered, third the new phenomenon leads to traffic problems in the areas around the schools.
This phenomenon is not only common in big cities but also affects small towns like Imst. In Imst elementary schools are especially affected. The "Miteinand in Imst"-Project developed in cooperation with the Regionalmanagement Bezirk Imst and the affected schools this project which aims to change this situation and to motivate pupils as well as their parents to go to school by foot.
This aim shall be reached with the help of the following measures:
- awareness campaign
- competition: pupils can earn money for their class funds for each way to school, which has been completed on foot.
The project is being financially supported by several political committees of the city government.
One of the fields of works of the nature park Ötztal is to strengthen the consumption and production of regional products. Therefore, the Nature Park and the Ötztal tourismus agency developed this project. The main measures are:
- Drafting and printing of a book of vouchers for regional projects
- Drafting and printing of brochures
- Various marketing operations
Important support for the project is being received by over more than 45 companies, which call themselves Natura Park partner companies. These companies produce, offer or distribute local products.
The Widiversum in Hoch Oetz (Ötztal Valley) is a very important tourist attraction. The Widiversum was originally a mutual project of the Ötztal Tourism Agency and the cable car company Hoch Oetz. The aim of the project was to improve summer tourism. Nowadays, Widiversum is a huge area with various adventure and knowledge stations. The whole concept focuses on the mascot Widi - a sheep breed. During the first seasons the Widiversum led to a significant increase in number of visitors and so encouraged the project initiators to develop the project even further.
"Widiversum Ausbaustufe 2" represents this advancement. The main aim of this project is to take the near alpine huts on board and to improve the whole hiking region "Hoch Oetz". Subject of the project is the construction of additional adventure and knowledge stations around the hiking trails and especially on the trails to the alpine huts.
The region around Imst was a very important destination for labour migrants during the 1960s and 1970s. Especially migrants from Turkey came to Imst and started a whole new life there. Although an important chapter in the history of Imst, it lacks in scientific research. The project "Migrationsausstellung Ballhaus Imst" wants to change this issue by thorough archival research and interviewing migrants. The results will be presented in an exhibition in spring 2019 and will also form a base for future research projects.
The project concerned is part of a bigger project, which is related with the construction of an information platform, called "Lebensraum Windachtal" (Habitat Windachtal). The Windachtal is a side valley of the famous Ötztal valley. In comparison to the very populated and highly touristic shaped Ötztal, the Windachtal is almost untouched, therefore it is an important natural heritage and provides an important habitat for animals. The information platform aims to portray the natural treasures of this valley and wants to raise awareness for this natural jewellery.
The project "NP Ötztal Lebensraum Windachtal Detailplanung" is concerned with the drafting and planning of this information platform. In a follow-up project the drafts and plans will be realised.
The long-distance hiking trail "Starkenberger Panoramaweg" was a major project of the tourism agency "Imst Tourismus". The hiking trail was finished in summer 2018 and received a lot of financial support from different governmental departments.
To market the hiking trail professionally Imst Tourism launched the project "Marketing Starkenberger Panoramaweg". In this project several measure are taken to place the new hiking trail on relevant markets. The measures are:
- new internet presence
- drafting a layout for a brochure about the hiking trail
The project helps to boost summer tourism and to raise awareness for the cultural heritage of the region around Imst. The hiking trail focuses on the history of the old noble family "Starkenberger". A very famous family that lived during the middle ages around Imst. The family is still very famous today, as they had a huge impact on the local culture.
The project is concerned with monitoring the common kestrel. The main aim of this project is to gain information about the breeding behaviour and to raise awareness for this bird.

The project is concerned with the creation of a folder, which supports volunteers in their work with refugees and migrants.
The leaflet contains important information about regional and local institutions which help in terms of integration. Moreover, it contains a manual for how to use the map on the new homepage www.integrationundgemeinwohl.tirol. The map provides necessary information about institutions (goals, contact details, etc.) which deal with refugees, migrants but also volunteers in general.
Finally the leaflet portrays the work of the Freiwilligenzentrum Bezirk Imst and gives a short insight on the work of volunteers and their importance for the region.
This project is concerned with the printing of a art catalogue for the famous annual art project "Art-Street Imst". The Art Street runs for about three weeks and is a very important event for artists in and around Imst.
The art catalogue contains information about the various artists who take part in this event and also contains an article about the importance of art for the region and another article which deals with the heritage of the local building culture.
The project supports marketing measures for the newly founded company "Ötztaler Holzart". The local company wants to produce ecological raised beds, which are produced out of local wood and regional resources. The company receives its energy out of solar power as one of the main aims of the new enterprise is to produce its products with almost zero emissions.
Brewing beer is a traditional aspect for the Tyrolean culture. In Ötztal a small brewery startet a couple of years ago producing beer with a local traditional hop breed. The project "Ötztaler Brauhaus GmbH" has the aim to professionalise the production and to take the small brewery to the next level - which means expansion and increasing production.
The main measures are:
- establishing a craft brewery
- structural adjustments to the existing building
A sucessful and livable region relies, besides other values, very much on its economic power and competitiveness. To strengthen these features is the main mission of the project "IZI Imst". "IZI Imst" starts right at the beginning and tries to boost young entrepreneurs by offering several consulting services.
One of the services is an idea check, in which young entrepreneurs can discuss their business concepts with an expert. In the course of this consulting the expert connects the young founder with important network partners and other important players. Another service focuses on local schools - by providing teaching material for pupils of different school types and by giving lessons the team of IZI Imst wants to spread the idea of entrepreneurship amongst youngsters. Finally, by holding seminars and events the club tries to create a positive atmosphere for entrepreneurship in the region.
The project is concerned with severeal measures in the area of accessibility and quality improvement.
The following measures are planned:
- implementation of an area-covering wireless LAN network
- installation of new slide doors for an improved accessibility with wheelchairs
- new audio guides for blind people
The aim of this project is to increase the recreational value of the area "Badesee Mieming". The location is a quite important recreational space for the local population, however due to a lack of financial power the area has seen no real investment and improvement for a long time. The infrastructure and especially the playground is in a bad shape.
With the help of this project the proprietors want to revive the area. The main measures are the construction of a new educative playground and a bridge across the lake to make the area more accessible.
The project is concerned with the exhibition concept and the planning of the new Steinbock-centre in St. Leonhard im Pitztal.
The project is concerned with the preperation of the new KEM-strategy (climate-and energy model region) for the region. Moreover, the aim of the project is to initiate and to support energy-related projects in the region.
The main tasks of the project are:
- supporting the local energy-agents
- extending the local energy-agents network
- preparing the new KEM-strategy
- public relations
- supporting and giving advice to ongoing energy related projects
- initiation of new projects
The Regionalmanagement Bezirk Imst organised together with the project "Miteinand in Imst", the City Marketing Imst and the Freiwilligenzentrum Bezirk Imst the event "Accessible Imst".
The event took place on the 12th of August. The aim was to raise awareness for people with impairments.
All major tyrolean associations for people with impairments took part and informed the local community about their programmes. Besides information the associations and local endorser for people with impairments organised various stations in which the visitors of the event could gain an insight into how it feels like to be blind, paraplegic or deaf.
The project itself was not funded as the expenses were covered by capital of the Regionalmanagement Bezirk Imst and sponsorship money.
The project "Präventives Leistungstraining" is an Interreg-project between the two elite schools Sportoberschule Mals (Italy) and Schigymnasium Stams (Austria). The project is concerned with a survey to find measures to reduce injuries in high-performance sport.
The project is concerned with the training of people who establish climbing gardens as well as the reworking and republication of the well known manual "Qualitätshandbuch Klettergärten".
The aim of this project is to train refugees in First Aid, so that they can handle an emergency in a professional manner. Moreover, the refugees are asked to assist and support the ambulancemen in the case of an emergency at a refugee hostel (in terms of communication, etc.).
The "Terra Raetica Almbegegnung" is a long term project of the Terra Raetica region to strengthen the exchange of experiences in the field of transhumance in the alps. The meeting in 2016 took place in the Ötztal valley (Tyrol | Imst).
The aim of the project "Networking" is to interlink the regional players which deal with integration and common good. Moreover, the project provides manpower to work more efficiently and professionally towards a good and elaborated network.
The project is concerned with awarenness-raising activities for the old regional corn breed "Pitztaler Tirggen". The aim of the initiative is to strengthen the position of the traditional breed and to entrench the "Pitztaler Tirggen" in the local cultural heritage.
In the region of Imst some alps to have dairy cows from different farmers. The farmers receive money for the milk their dairy cows give. However, the price for a litre milk is heavily influenced by the quality of the milk. At the moment all farmers receive the same amount of money as their is no tool or programm which can relate the quality of the milk to the individual dairy cow. So, although a farmer possesses high quality dairy cows, he receives the same amount of money as a farmer with dairy cows, which deliver low quality milk.
This project aims to undertake a research project to find a possible solution to this problem. The outcome should be a concept for an easy and handy accounting software for the alps.
This concept could later be extended to a fully functional accounting sofware.
The project "Wheelchairfriendly Längenfeld" involves the analyses of different tourist attractions as well as accommodation providers in terms of their accessibility for people with impairments. The project is related to the Terra Raetica project "Humana Raetica Barrierefrei".
The project also includes awareness-raising activities.
To pull together, to head for the same goal and to take measures together - important aspects for tourism destinations which are becoming more and more important. The project "Markenkommunikation Pitztal" wants to accept this challenge by offering several workshops in which owners of local businesses and a representant of the tourism association try to find points of contact between the strategy of the tourism association and the various strategies of the regional businesses.
The project should encourage the locals to work together and to use synergy effects to become more competitive.
A main feature of the LEADER strategy is to boost bottom up processes. Small projects with a huge impact should be realised in a rather fast and uncomplicated way. By creating the "Umbrella Project LAG Imst 2016-25018" the Local Action Group Imst (located at the club Regionalmanagement Bezirk Imst) opened up a new and easy possibility to receive funds.
This project therefore reduces the bureaucratic effort for the lead partners and offers a fast and uncomplicated way to obtain funding.
This project is concerned with the funding of the Local Action Group, which is located at the club Regionalmanagement Bezirk Imst.
The project is concerned with the creation of a concept to increase the attractiveness of the bathing lake in Mieming.
Main points of this concept are the construction of a Kneipp-basin, of a new bridge across the bathing lake and of a new playground.
Additionally, the topic "Water" will have a major influence on the design of the area. Several stations are planned which provide a better understanding of the local water production and water usage.
The "Apfelmeile Haiming" is situated next to the "Apfelstraße Haiming" and provides a small recreational park. In this park the visitors can learn something about the topic apple. The product apple represents an important economic branch in the surrounding area. Moreover, the local orchardist can present and sell their products in this park.
The transnational cooperation project aims to exchange experience about integration between the participating countries Germany, Finland, Sweden and Austria. The LAG Imst takes part with a regional project which is concerned with creating a task force, involving all important institutions, volunteers and authorities. The tasks force main goal is to create synergies and a common communication plattform.
The project "Wheelchairfriendly Pitztal" involves the analyses of different tourist attractions as well as accommodation providers in terms of their accessibility for people with impairments. The project is related to the Terra Raetica project "Humana Raetica Barrierefrei".
The project involves the remake and expansion of the brochure "Fascination Nature - Geology". The main aim of the project is to raise awareness for the local environment.
The project funds the external project support of the overall project "Gottstein Areal". The "Gottstein Areal" is a former and today almost unoccupied factory building. The goal is to revive the building and to originate a center for craftmanship, regional products and research.
The open-air museum "Ötztaler Heimatmuseum" preserves historical building culture. In order to keep these historic buildings alive REGIO Imst, the Antiquities and Monuments Office as well as the department of Village Renovation initiated the project to renovate 7 objects, which are threatened by deterioration.
The project "Naturpark Ötztal Hohe Mut - Umbau" (Nature Park Ötztal Hohe Mut - Reconstruction) forms the base for the project "Naturpark Ötztal Hohe Mut - Ausstellung" (Nature Park Ötztal Hohe Mut - Exhibition). The project is concerned with the structural adjustments of the "Hohe Mut Alm".
The project funds the new permanent exhibition of the Naturpark Ötztal. The exhibition is concerned with the local nature, glaciology and geology.
The pilot project "Miteinand in Imst" (Together in Imst) was initiated by the tyrolean provincial government in 2014/15. Due to the huge success in Imst, REGIO Imst and the city of Imst decided to continue this project. The main aim is to strengthen the volunteer work. "Miteinand in Imst" initiates various projects with the help of volunteers and tries to create a base for common good as well as an awareness for the importance of voluntary work. "Miteinand in Imst" works closely with the regionwide working Center for the Volunteers.
The "ABC-Cafe Imst" is a project which supports people who don't have German as their mother tongue. 4 employees help these people to improve their German. Another important goal is to enhance the process of integration.
Sölden is located in the Ötztal and one of the biggest tourism destination in Tyrol. Unsurprisingly, a lot of the inhabitants work for the tourism sector, which involes work on weekends. In order to improve the situation of parents with small children, Sölden and REGIO Imst startet a project, called "saturday childminding". The main goal of the project is to improve the situation of the parents and to improve the working conditions.
"One Valley - one Way" - The continuation of the project "Regional Agenda Pitztal" focuses on the future of the agriculture in Pitztal and tries to help and improve the current situation. Workshops, public awareness measurements as well as the revival of old breeds are the main goals of this project.
Widiversum is an adventureland for children. It is located in Oetz (Ötztal) 2020 m above sea level. The adventureland is concerned with Widi, a sheep, who tries to find a magic crystal and to save the Widiversum. The project "Widiversum" involves the funding of four different stations where children learn interesting things about the local nature and environment. The main goals are to lessen the dependence of winter tourism and to improve the tourism destination of the anterior Ötztal, which wants to position itself as a family destination.
Wenns is a community in the Pitztal. Wenns has had a market right for several generations but in the recent past it did not make use of that right. To preserve the right and to revive it Wenns and REGIO Imst startet a project called "Erlebnismarkt Pitztal". The project is concerned with the implementation of a christmas market. Besides the onetime aqcuisition of market stalls the project's main goals are to improve the situation of local companies and to boost the awareness for local goods. The market will be held twice a year - around christmas and around easter.
