The area Reutte is the smallest district of Tyrol. It is also called Ausserfern and is divided into four subregions. Reutte is embedded between the mountains Zugspitze and Sonnenspitze and is a very tourism-intensive region.
With 26 communities and approximately 83.000 inhabitants, the area Kitzbühel Alps extends over four planning associations in the two districts of Kitzbühel and Kufstein. The focus of the region is agriculture, tourism, culture, energy and mobility.
The district Lienz (Osttirol) with the capital Lienz is the largest district in Tyrol and the fourth largest in Austria. 33 communities belong to this area. Most important sectors of economy are trade and tourism.
The area Wipptal ranges from the South of the capital Innsbruck up to the Italian border. This area is highly affected by it's function as transit route North-South. 12 communities belong to this Region.
The area Pillerseetal - Leukental - Leogang consists of 13 communities in the federal states Tyrol and Salzburg. Beside tourism, many important companies like Gebro Pharma and Nothegger Logistik are located in this area.
The long-distance hiking trail "Starkenberger Panoramaweg" was a major project of the tourism agency "Imst Tourismus". The hiking trail was finished in summer 2018 and received a lot of financial support from different governmental departments.
